After Johannes Andersen had finished his apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker, he worked in several workshops. Soon he started to design his own furniture, which he sold to producers in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. In the 1950's, Andersen became one of the best known Danish furniture designers, especially for his coffee tables, which he designed in many different variations.
