Bookcase from the Birch Series, Cees Braakman
Beautiful bookcase from the Birch Series, designed in the 1950's by Cees Braakman, manufactured in the Netherlands by Pastoe. The Birch Series is one of the most beautiful and sought after works of Braakman. It stands out for its simple but beautiful materials and, even more, the loop-shaped legs.
The bookcase is made of birch plywood. It shows some patina (see images), but no damages.

Cees Braakman (The Netherlands, 1917-1995) was head of the design team for the UMS - Pastoe Company from 1945-1978. The basic features of his design are a perfect sense of proportion, a taste for clean lines with an accent on first class materials. Braakman was one of the most influentual designers of the Netherlands.
