Stunning coffee table, designed, manufactured and hand signed in the 1960's by the French ceramic artist Roger Capron. The table is from the "Garrigue" series. For this series, Capron pressed leaves and grass found in the garrigue (a special mediterranian scrubland) into tiles.
Capron made many different Garrigue tables. This one stands out for its nicely coloured brilliant glazes.

Roger Capron

Roger Capron (1922 - 2006) was a French ceramic artist. Born near Paris, Capron studied at the École des Arts Appliqués à l'Industrie in Paris. In 1948 he went to Vallauris and founded a ceramic workshop with his friends and colleagues Jean Derval and Robert Picault. Quickly he gained internatioanl reputation, which allowed him to employ up to 120 persons. Roger Capron ist best known for his hand painted free-form pieces, as well as for wall tiles and coffee tables.
