Side Table, Wim Rietveld, Auping
Side table, designed in the 1950's by Wim Rietveld, the son of de Stijl artist Gerrit Rietveld. The table was produced in the Netherlands by Auping.
The piece is leight weight and made of simple materials. It consists of a base made of grey painted tubular steel, and a top made of glossy grey painted plywood. In contrast to the plain materials, the shape of the table is quite elaborated. One side of the top is longer than the other two, and no side is straight, which reminds of a guitar plectrum. The base consists of different curved and straight lines.
The condition of the table is good, with some lighter signs of wear and some patina.
The dimensions: 69 x 64 cm, height 60 cm
